Chinese Tattoo Ritual
Please let me introduce my Chinese tattoo ritual to you.
I will explain what my philosophy is and how it works.
I will explain what my philosophy is and how it works.
The origin
My heritage is Chinese and I feel a strong connection to the arts of ancient China.
Art and poetry runs deep in my bloodline and I feel it's destined for me to continue that. My grandfather was a poet and also the first person that introduced me to the ancient arts. That fond memory I have of the moment we shared is something I hold dearly, and I want to make art that shows the beauty in the stories of people's journeys. |
The Philosophy
I believe that making the commitment in getting a tattoo is something special and spiritual.
Not only will you fuse with something that isn't natural from the body in substance but also in energy.
Tattoos can have a strong impact on your energy and not to mention a lasting memory in life. I see memories as destinations where you stayed during your journey in life.
With my ritual I want to create a safe and warm space for you to express and simply be. My task is to ease you comfortably into the experience which inevitably will become destination of your journey.
I would like you to invite your body, soul and mind to gather in the present. To connect with me and let me understand the essence of you. To design something that does true to that moment you cherish, a design that tells your story.

How does it work?
My ritual exists of two phases:
The ceremony
This phase is designed to connect with yourself and with me.
We will start with my grounding massage ritual that pulls you into your body, focussing on feeling the connection between your mind and body. Then I invite you to join me in a Chinese tea ceremony. This is an ancient practise to connect socially and a way to meditate in being in the present. That is why I chose to share the tea ritual in the connecting phase. To welcome the connection with you. During this tea ceremony I will ask you questions intuitively and let you tell me your stories and wishes. This beautiful conversation creates a cycle of energy. Which will be the fuel of the brainstorming on your design. We will find what suits you best in style, placement, size and theme according to your budget. Then we will look for a date to plan your second phase. This marks the end of your first phase. With that energy and knowledge I will make a design in my atelier. This can be traditionally with grinding ink and using the chinese brushes or drawing. The design will be shown to you through mail roughly a week before the second phase. Which allows some room for small changes and also some time to connect to your unique design. |
The Tattoo Ritual
Here we start of with placing the outline of your design on the body and take a moment for you to connect to your design through a brief guided meditation.
Then we will focus on welcoming the art by starting with a massage that is designed on connecting to the present and calming the body. This is my way to ease you into your journey of fusing with your design. Then the tattooing will start to take place and afterwards we celebrate your new tattoo by evaluating your experience. Last but not least I want to give you a small present before waving you off while you set foot on your life journey again. |
Thank you for sharing this ritual with me.
